My background is in accountancy and investment banking, specifically fixed income and derivatives. That background has enabled me to indulge in my real interests of History and the History of Political Thought.
My re-entry degree was an MA in Legal and Political Thought at UCL followed by an MPhil and PhD in History at King’s College, Cambridge.
My major research interest is the debunking of the idea of human rights. It is a point that is perfectly illustrated in my PhD ‘The Origins of the 1981 African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights ’ which, for the first time, situates this political statement in its particular historical context rather than the so-called universal human rights tradition.
I am currently editing and expanding the PhD with a view to publication and writing articles on specific aspects of the process by which the African human rights charter came about.
