Thesis title: Shakespeare's Strategies of Deliberation
Supervisor: Professor Quentin SkinnerSecondary supervisor: David Colclough (School of English and Drama)
My doctoral thesis explores classical and early modern ideas of rhetorical deliberation and argues that they constitute an important context for understanding some of Shakespeare's poetry and plays. My broader research interests include the concept of 'deliberation' as a mental and political process, the history of early modern political thought, and classical rhetoric in the Renaissance.
