BA History and Politics
BA History and Politics
This degree is jointly taught by the Schools of History and Politics, and reflects the close links between the two schools and their subject areas. It provides an opportunity to understand the modern world by studying the evolution of political ideas and institutions alongside the historical development of the major powers. You have the opportunity to study with established scholars at the forefront of research in British, European and American history since 1900 and to take advantage of the School of History's links to the world of politics.
The BA in History and Politics is carefully structured to build on your A Level study as you develop the skills and knowledge that come with intensively studying the two subjects. You will initially develop a broad knowledge of the events and movements that have shaped the world we live in today. As your degree progresses you will increasingly specialize and study your subjects in great depth and detail. After your first year, you are largely free to shape your own programme of study, choosing from the full range of courses offered by each School.
At the School of History we pride ourselves on the friendly, supportive atmosphere in which our students work and learn. Our students are at the centre of everything we do, and they are a vital, vibrant and diverse part of our community. Click here for links to Undergraduate Profiles.
